Before a bed bug inspection
A calm starting point when you suspect activity in a bedroom or shared building.
Identification first
Bites alone do not identify bed bugs. Visible insects, shed skins and marks around bed seams can be useful clues, but an assessment is needed.
Keep belongings in place
Moving furniture between rooms can spread a problem. Avoid discarding belongings or placing them in shared areas before you receive advice.
Coordinate access
In a rental or condo, contact the person responsible for the building. Shared spaces and neighbouring units may need consideration.
Follow the actual preparation sheet
Preparation varies with the treatment. Ask for instructions before washing, bagging or moving large quantities of belongings.
